NEW Series! Documenting Magic: Scrapbooking Disney!

Documenting Magic

Where is the most magical place on Earth? Well, Disney World of course! In roughly 10 days my family and I will be heading to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida for the most epic vacation EVER! We have been planning our Disney World vacation for 18 months and we cannot wait to be in the House of the Mouse!

As I began to plan our Disney vacation, I spent a bit of time thinking about how I want to document this experience. I watched hours of Disney World scrapbook process videos and poured through Disney scrapbooking blogs looking for creative inspiration. There are so many ways to document a Disney trip, from creating a traditional scrapbook to using a traveler’s notebook. After much I thought, I came up with a Disney documenting plan and my next YouTube series…Documenting Magic!

(That sounds so official!)

THE PLAN

Part 1: Prep for the Magic – I first began by purchasing Disney inspired scrapbooking products. It is important that I prep all of my supplies before I start on this massive project! Because a Disney vacation is very busy and filled with magical memories, I knew that I needed a way to record my “in the moment” experiences.  So, I decided to use a traveler’s notebook to document my experiences while I’m at Disney World. When I return from my vacation, I will begin work on my 12×12 Disney scrapbook album.

I splurged and purchased a ton of Disney inspired scrapbooking goodies from Scrapbook.com. Most of the items I purchased for this project are from the Simple Stories Say Cheese II and III Collections, Carpe Diem Collection, and few of the items were gifted to me or I purchased at my local craft and hobby store. I also purchased a super cute Disney traveler’s notebook cover from The Inky Bluebird shop on Etsy…more on that in a moment!

All of my Disney products are organized in a Iris container for easy retrieval. Since I plan to use my traveler’s notebook during my vacation, I am packing a small Disney scrapbook kit and a few tools to take with me. I will share my mini Disney scrapbook kit in a few days!

In addition to curating a large stash of Disney scrappy goodies, I spent some time thinking about how I want to document my Disney World experience. It is important that I not only include my voice, but the point of view of my daughter and spouse as well. I made a small list of the experiences I want to make sure I document – special attractions, our Disney resort hotel, character meet and greets and so forth.

Part 2: Experience the Magic – As I mentioned above, I wanted a way to document my “in the moment” experiences during my Disney World vacation. Here’s where my Disney traveler’s notebook comes in!

My plan is to use my traveler’s notebook to journal my thoughts, feelings, and special moments as I am experiencing them. I will carry my notebook in my park bag while touring the various Disney World parks and attractions. I also want to set aside time in the evening once we return to our resort to reflect and journal about my day.

My goal is to keep the documenting process simple, using only a few supplies and tools. And because I want to include photos in my traveler’s notebook, I also plan to take my mini Polaroid Zinc photo printer to print a few pictures throughout the trip. The Zinc printer is small enough to carry in my park bag and connects wirelessly to my iPhone. I love technology!

Part 3: Document the Magic – When I return home from my Disney vacation (that makes me sad to say that), I plan to immediately get to work on my Disney scrapbook album – uploading, printing, and sorting photos, creating page kits, and putting my layouts together. As I begin work on my Disney scrapbook album, I will refer to my Disney traveler’s notebook to recall important details, order of events, thoughts, feelings, etc. I love the idea of being able to use my traveler’s notebook as a tool to help me recall the most important memories from my Disney World vacation!

For my Disney scrapbook, I am using a We R Memory Keepers 3-ring black leather album. And because I love to mix things up, the album will include a variety of layout orientations and sizes (i.e. 12×12, 8.5×11, 9×12, 6×12, and pocket layouts).

Part 4: Magical Review – When my Disney World scrapbook project is complete, I will share a full review of my process and my albums here on the Victoria Marie Blog and on the Victoria Marie YouTube Channel.

    Hi Victoria,
So excited for you and your family. I grew up 1.5 miles from Disneyland and actually worked there during the summers in the parade as a teenager. So much fun, but i never really took pictures until I had children of my own. Anyway, love your plan, but you said you would share once the project album was complete. I would love to see process videos of each of your pages as you create them. Have lots of fun and this will probably be your favorite album ever. AND your daughter is the perfect age for you to experience it both through your perspective and through her eyes. Have the best time ever!
