Hello my friends! I am back with another layout using the October Felicity Jane Kit. This layout features my gorgeous mother who at the time was 21 years old when this photo was taken. This is by far one of my all time favorite photographs of my mom – she was a stunning young women (still is) and I adore her with every fiber of my being!
Recently, I have been working on a project that involves telling my mother’s story. I am fascinated by her life, her interests, and her dreams. As we get older, we realize that our parents are more than our caretakers – they are individuals. I want to know more about my mother – I want to know what her childhood was like, did she struggle with typical teenage angst, did she feel that she accomplished her goals?
I have so many questions.
At 21 years old, my mother was a divorced single-parent raising my older brother in Lawton, OK, her hometown. She worked for the U.S. Department of Defense as a secretary but had dreams of becoming a social worker. Despite attending college and earning an associates degree in Sociology years later, she never realized her dream. At this time, her main goal was to be a good mom. She enjoyed dancing, listening to music, sewing, and reading…she is a veracious reader!!!
For this layout, I wanted the photo to take center stage. Using a variety of label die cuts and stickers from the Felicity Jane Kit, I created a loose grid to the left the photo. To these labels, I stamped “a-ma-zing”, “so love this” and “smile” using stamps sets by Felicity Jane and Scraptastic (from my stash).
Next, I added wood veneer hearts and puffy shapes to create a bit of interest and dimension. For the title, I used the word sticker “Lovely” by Thickers (not included in the Felicity Jane Kit). Overall, I love the simplicity of this layout.
