Hey Scrap Bosses!
Today I am sharing Day 2 in my Document December Album. This project is slow going for me as my time has been filled with care taking responsibilities, the holiday rush, and everything in between. If you are in a similar position and life has you moving from pillar to post, no worries my friend! This project is a marathon, not a sprint. Take your time, enjoy the process, and remember that there is no such thing as being “behind”.
Day 2 is all about Cheery, our Elf on the Shelf. Last year my daughter Corinne questioned whether Cheery was a real elf. She began to notice that Cheery stayed in the same spot for days on end (because my spouse and I forgot to move her and we are lazy)! She also noticed that Cheery’s body felt hollow. Not knowing how to respond, I merely asked, “Well baby…what do you think?”
“Mom, I don’t think that she’s real,” my daughter replied with tears in her eyes.
“Cheery can be whatever you want her to be,” I said while also trying not to cry! (Man I’m weak!)
Flash forward to November 2019. To my surprise, Corinne asked about Cheery shortly after Thanksgiving! In the past, Cheery always arrived the day after Thanksgiving. Based on last year’s conversation, I didn’t think Cheery would make an appearance.
Needless to say, Cheery is back and Corinne couldn’t be happier! Even though we all know Cheery isn’t “real” (wink, wink), she remains a popular Christmas figurehead in our family.
