Happy New Year Scrap Bosses! I hope that 2019 is treating you well! I am so excited for brand new starts and fresh opportunities! And I am super excited to share my brand new series on the Victoria Marie YouTube Channel and Blog called Creative Reconnection.
Over the past year and half, I began to feel disconnected from scrapbooking. I spent a considerable amount of time creating projects for scrapbooking companies (contract and design team). Sadly, I started to lose my organic scrapbooking style. I missed my storytelling voice, working with my scrappy stash, and creating layouts that truly represent my scrapbooking aesthetic.
I began to wonder if there was a disconnect between what is produced and created by the scrapbooking industry versus how the everyday scrapbooker creates. What I see on the Victoria Marie Facebook Group, and on other social media platforms, are stunning layouts that may or may not represent the current trends, supplies, or techniques.
I posed this topic to the Victoria Marie Facebook Group and I received some very interesting responses. Many in the group could relate to the general feeling of being disconnected from scrapbooking. Some members stated that they wanted to see more online content creators make layouts that are representative of the everyday scrapbooker. They want to be inspired to use scraps from their stash, tools, to make 2-page layouts, and to use multiple photos on a layout. A few members stated that they often compare their scrapbook layouts to what they see on social media – which has led many to question their own scrapbooking style (or stop scrapbooking all together).
The Creative Reconnection Series was designed to encourage scrapbookers to reconnect to scrapbooking in a meaningful way; to reconnect with their personal style, tools, scrappy stash and so much more!
