Let’s Get Ready for iNSD 2021 – Print Your Photos, Make the Kits, and Grab a FREE Sketch!

We have two more days until International Scrapbook Day and this week, I am sharing how I am getting ready for a full weekend of scrapbooking! In the previous blog post, I talked about the first step in my iNSD getting ready process which involves making a list of the projects that I want to work on during the iNSD weekend. Today, I am going to share the second step in my process…printing photos and making kits!

Printing Photos and Making Kits

Once you have selected a realistic (emphasis on realistic) number of projects to work on, it’s time to print photos and make a few kits. Let’s start with the photos!

Photos: Select and print the photos the BEST represent the stories you want to document. I usually take this time to print photos in a variety of sizes, depending on the projects I plan to work on. For example, I want to work on several Project Life pages during iNSD weekend. In preparation, I am going to print 3×4 inch and 4×6 inch photos, and a couple of large print photos (9×12 inches) for my Project Life spreads. Printing photos in advance will save you a ton of time and will help in determining design options for your projects.

TIP! Draft a Sketch: Speaking of design, be sure to take a moment to draft a sketch of the potential layouts that you want to make this weekend. In doing so, you will have one less decision to make when you start working on your layouts. If you want to save time, consider using a pre-made sketch! There are a ton of scrapbook sketches on the market – a simple Google search is a great place to start.

Make the Kit! Next, use your photos, layout sketch designs, or another form of creative inspiration (i.e. mood boards, Instagram, Pinterest) to make scrapbooking kits! Take this opportunity to shop your stash, use pre-made kits, or grab a collection of scrapbooking materials. Setting aside a few scrapbooking supplies will help lessen the amount of time it takes to make product decisions when you are ready to scrapbook this weekend.

Next, pair your photos and scrapbook sketches with your kits. Store all of your kits and collections close to your work station for easy access. Remember: You can always add more elements to your kits as needed!

This week I am going to make scrapbooking kits using items from my stash. Also, I am going to grab several of my unused kits (Felicity Jane and Hip Kit Club), along with some new scrapbook collections that I have been hoarding for months!

TIP: Block the Tasks! If you are short on time, consider scheduling a time block for these tasks. For example, tonight, spend some time printing photos. Tomorrow, sketch a few layout designs and pull together a few kits. You will be amazed at how much you can get done in a short period of time!

Okay friends! That’s all for today! Tomorrow, I am going to share the next step in my process…coordinating my iNSD outfits (AKA pajamas) and prepping my snacks!

This is by far the most important part of the process, right? Right!
