Layering Tutorial Series! Scrapbook Design Concepts for High Impact Layered Embellishment Clusters!

This week, I’m continuing my Layering Series on the Victoria Marie YouTube Channel with a look at design concepts and product recommendations for creating high impact layered embellishment clusters. If you love the look of layered clusters on a scrapbook layout but are not sure what type of products to use, no worries, I’ve got you covered!

High impact layered embellishment clusters contain elements that have a variety of textures, colors, and sizes. Most scrapbookers use cardstock die cuts to create embellishments clusters (and there is nothing wrong with that). However, to take your layered embellishment clusters to the next level, consider using a variety of elements such as wood veneer, acrylic, cork, enamel dots, or puffy elements when creating layered clusters.

In today’s video, I share a few design concepts that can be used to create high impact layered embellishments clusters. These concepts include:

  • Texture
  • Shape
  • Color
  • Size
  • Scale

Together, these design concepts can help inform the products you select for your scrapbook projects and the overall design of your layered composition. To learn more, click on the video below!

Here’s an example of these concepts at play!

This 12×12 inch layout features a variety of elements of different sizes, shapes, textures, and scale. The top cluster houses a large title which is flanked by mid-size and smaller elements. This concept is repeated for the other layered clusters. To add interest to the layered clusters, I used chipboard elements, cardstock die cuts, enamel dots, tags, labels, and stickers. Together, all of these elements help to create high impact layered embellishment clusters.

Here are a few more layouts where I used these design concepts to create layered embellishments clusters!

This layout features cardstock frames, chipboard floral elements, a puffy sticker banner, chipboard hearts, and enamel dots.

This grid design layout features lots of wood veneer, cardstock die cuts, and chipboard elements to create small layered clusters throughout the composition. All of the elements range in size, shape, scale, and texture.

And lastly, this layout features fabric pockets that are layered with cardstock die cuts, chipboard elements, fabric butterflies, and wood veneer heart buttons. The varied size, texture, and scale of these elements creates a stunning layered scrapbook page!

The next time you create layered embellishment clusters on a scrapbook project, be sure to consider these design concepts and product recommendations. If you are inspired to test out these concepts, feel free share what you make with the Victoria Marie Facebook Group Community!

New Scrapbook Process Video – Merry Everything!

Merry Christmas Scrap Bosses!

I hope you are having a fabulous holiday! Today, I am sharing a holiday themed layout on the Victoria Marie YouTube Channel called Merry Everything, using the November Hip Kit Club scrapbooking kit and scrapbooking kit add-on (sold out).

Every year during the holidays, my family and I enjoy what we like to call fancy hot cocoa. Our fancy cocoa always includes whipped cream, sprinkles, marshmallows, and candy canes. I love setting up our hot cocoa station complete with all of our favorite fixings. It’s our yearly winter tradition that we look forward to!

See this layout come together on the Victoria Marie YouTube Channel. Photos of this project are provided below.

The photos in this layout were taken almost five years ago when my daughter was in kindergarten. After a particularly long day of work and school, we stopped at Target to buy fancy hot cocoa fixings. I remember how excited she was to find marshmallows that were shaped like tiny Christmas trees!

I love the layered look of the page! All of the products used are exclusive from the Hip Kit Club. Unfortunately, this particular kit is sold out. But, be sure to stop by the Hip Kit Club Shop to see their latest kits!

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a happy holiday season! Look for more scrapbook inspiration to come!

Did You Catch the Replay? YouTube Livestream Scrapbook Process Video!

The recorded replay of the Victoria Marie YouTube Livestream Scrapbook Process Video (aired 10/19/2020) is available for your viewing pleasure!

During this live session, I created a 12 x 12 scrapbook layout featuring the Tori Kit by Felicity Jane.

Every year, I create a scrapbook layout to celebrate my mom’s birthday. She turned 72 years young this month. Sadly, in the midst of my busy schedule, I totally forgot her birthday! I felt so horrible (still do). But, the day was saved with tons of apologies, hugs and kisses, handmade cards, and dinner at Red Lobster. Mom loved it!

Because this layout has a really large title, I didn’t have much room for journaling. To remedy this, I created hidden journaling, attached on the back of the layout using a handmade pocket. The tab invites the viewer to read the hidden journaling.

Be sure to check out the recorded replay for this project! I will be back LIVE on the Victoria Marie YouTube Channel this Friday with another scrapbooking project!

Scrapbook Process Video | Favorite Selfie using the March 2020 Hip Kit Club Scrapbooking Kit!

Hey Scrap Bosses!

Do you have a tween or teen in your life that loves to take selfies? I sure do! My camera roll is filled with selfies of my daughter and of course…I have to scrapbook them!

As my daughter gets older, she is becoming less interested in me taking her photo, and more interested in taking a gajillion selfies on my iPhone! Over the past couple of years, I’ve taken the opportunity to scrapbook some of her selfie photos. These photos will later serve as a photographic representation of her growth and development as well as her personality.

What a great thing to document!

To see this layout come together, click on the following video, now available on the Victoria Marie YouTube Channel! Photos of this project along with a list of available products used is provided below.

The mix of black and white with pops of color is a fantastic design technique!

Want to use multiple photos without creating a two page spread? Considering using a photo editing app or website like Pic Frame or Pic Monkey to make multiphoto collages!

Layer clusters of embellishments around your title for added interest.

I love the bold and colorful style of this layout…so much fun! I hope you were inspired to make something awesome today! Thanks so much for stopping by!

NEW! Scrapbook Process and Scrappy Chat To-Go Video on the Victoria Marie YouTube Channel!

Hey Scrap Bosses! I am back with 2 new videos on the Victoria Marie YouTube Channel! Woo hoo!!!

It’s been several weeks since I have posted new content to my channel. I took an unintentional break to focus on a major project for Victoria Marie Designs. I am finally able to come up for air.

Also, I’ve lost a bit of my creative mojo recently and felt uninspired to make creative projects. I am working through this very frustrating phase one day at a time. Thanks so much for your patience during this unexpected “silent period”.

To hear more about this and more, check out my latest Scrappy Chat To-Go video!

Also on the channel is a brand new scrapbook process video, Homeschool Adventures! To be honest, making this layout reaffirmed why I love scrapbooking so much!

Using items from my stash, I created a classic layout with a muted color palatte to include craft, mint, dark green, yellow, and a hint of blue.

This color combination came together organically and is a refreshing departure from some of the trendy colors that have been featured in a lot of scrapbooking collections recently…hello pink and turquoise!

To see this layout come together, click on the video below!

The embellishment clusters on this layout are accented with wood veneer stars that beautifully coordinate with the Neenah Creative Collection Midtone Specialty Paper (background).

Die cuts, labels, and stamping add tons of interest to this project.

I resized the photos to 3×3 using the PicFrame App on my iPhone. I wanted to make sure I had enough room to fit all three photos on this 8.5 x 11 inch spread. Resizing the photos made this easier to achieve.

Thanks for stopping by! Look for more creative content to come on the Victoria Marie YouTube Channel and Blog!
